金沢の老舗酒蔵の福光屋が新たに新設した米醗酵のスペシャリストチーム「醗酵研究所」によるプロダクトの新商品第1号として「日本酒酵母エキス原液」を発売。そのパッケージデザインをDRAWING AND MANUALのデザイナー池宗清史、高橋まりなが担当した。「KOME LAB(コメラボ)」は、福光屋が1625年の創業以来、390有余年にわたり受け継いできた“米醗酵”の解明を担う精鋭チームが、科学的根拠(エビデンス)に基づいて研究開発を進めるプロダクト群として誕生。タグラインは「Tradition × Science」。米醗酵の実験室から誕生したプロトタイプ的な世界観を表現しながら、伝統技術と先端科学の融合を印象づけるために、容器やラベルにもデザインポリシーを貫いています。手書き文字は、醗酵研究所の研究員によるものです。

The DRAWING AND MANUAL designers, Kiyoshi Ikemune and Marina Takahashi, produced the package design for “Sake Yeast Extract”, the brand launching product of a yeast specialist team, “Hakko(Fermentation) Laboratory” newly founded by Fukumitsuya, the long-established sake brewery in Kanazawa. The product line, “KOME LAB” is developed by the “rice fermentation” experts based on the scientific evidence and the research inherited over 390 years since the establishment 1625. As their tag line, “Tradition & Science” represents, the package design strictly pursued the feel of a prototype which came out of a fermentation laboratory and the fusion of traditional techniques and the advanced science. The label is hand-written by the researchers.
